The Rampant Lion Sporran

$210.00

Originating during the reign of Malcolm III in the 11th century, the Rampant Lion was adopted as the Royal Banner of Scotland in the 13th century and used by Kings and Queens of Scotland for hundreds of years. The Rampant Lion remains a key fixture in the modern Royal Standard of the United Kingdom to this day, as well as the Royal Banner of Canada, and the personal Standard of the Dukes of Rothesay. No other symbol captures the centuries of history and royal majesty of Scotland as well as the Rampant Lion.

Though the Rampant Lion is, by royal decree, original to its red and yellow roots, Celtic Leatherworks proudly offers this design in a combination of historically inspired leather finishes. We've been working on a few new finishes for our Rampant Lion Interchangeable Flap design! Look for updates in our next catalog!

Description

This is a custom colored Rampant Lion Sporran. It is a Rob Roy style sporran with an Interchangeable Flap. The bag is made from black deer tanned leather. The flap is full grain vegetable tanned leather with a Rampant Lion embossed into it. The flap on this bag has been hand rubbed to give it a burnished brass and steel finish.

The bag utilizes a leather drawstring cord to close the bag at the top. The second leather cord is used to loop over the concho or clasp on the flap to hold it closed. These cords are accented with a variety of metal beads. Bead style may vary on each bag.

The back of the sporran is reinforced at the top with vegetable tanned leather. The flap attaches to the back of the bag at the top with heavy duty snaps. There are two D-rings to attach it to a sporran belt. The belt loop will comfortably fit on a 2.5 inch belt should you choose to wear it that way.
